What Recon does
Recon helps you prepare for one job at a time. You add the posting, and it researches the company and helps with each step after that.
- Company brief: a one-page, sourced read on the company: share of search against its rivals, what customers say in comments, social and creators, paid ads, positioning and recent news. See a full sample on Duolingo.
- Match Score and resume tailoring: how well your resume matches the posting, out of 100, and line-by-line rewrites that use only what's already on your resume.
- Cover letter, phone-screen kit and outreach notes built on the company and your real experience.
- Interview prep and practice: who you're meeting and what they'll likely ask, stories from your resume, and feedback on your practice answers.
- Case deck for a final round, with a source on every figure.
What Recon won't do
- It won't invent facts about you. Where a resume line needs a detail only you know, it leaves a [placeholder].
- It won't apply for jobs or send messages for you. It drafts them and you decide what to send.
- It never sells your resume or notes, shares them for advertising or uses them to train AI models. See Privacy.
How the free library is made
Every figure in the library names its source, and every page shows when it was last updated.
- Salaries come from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics survey, and job outlook from BLS Employment Projections.
- Role details (tools, skills, education) come from the O*NET database.
- Ad spend comes from companies' own 10-K filings on SEC EDGAR.
- Company teardowns come from Recon briefs run on public data, with the date the data was pulled and a source for each figure.

Why it exists
Justin built the first version to prepare for his own SEO interview, then rebuilt it for his wife's brand and social job search after a layoff. Read the story.
